Note: Excess mulch should be removed from beds and tree rings each year. Fresh mulch should be applied to beds between 2 and 3 inches thick.
Mulch Calculation
Mulch is only sold by the cubic yard. Customers will ask you how much they need. You can give them an estimated quantity based on the total square feet of the area needed to be covered. Ask them to measure the length and width of the areas. Area = Length x Width.
Here are the formulas to determine quantities:
Total Square Feet (.25)/27 = Total Yards
Example:
Bed is 25’x4’ = 100 Sq. Ft.(.25)/27 = .92 Yards or 1Yd.
