Sand:
Not play sand. Used for setting brick and stone.
Fill Soil:
A rough grade soil with rocks and large soil chunks. Used for filling large areas prior to adding screened topsoil. If you're
building a wall and need to backfill to level off the lawn, fill soil is best and then top off with screend soil prior to planting.
Sold by the yard.
3/4" Modified Stone:
A gray quarried stone used for patio, walkway, and asphalt foundations. A mixture of various size stone no
larger than 3/4". Meant for compacting, has grit in it.
3/4" Clean Stone:
A gray quarried stone used for paths and drainage applications. Can be used considered a decorative gravel.
A mixture of various size stone, but does not contain grit. It does not compact, also used for concrete base preparation.
Screening Stone (Grit):
A finely gray quarried stone. Consisting of fine particles, very similar to sand. Used for paths are for
setting various types of setting stones.
River Jack/River Stone:
A stone 1-3” in size that has been weathered by water. Round in nature varying shades of grays & tans.
Used as a decorative landscape stone, rock gardens and covering small flower beds.
How Do I Calculate How Much Soil, Sand or Stone I Need?
All quantity calculations are based on same formula as soil.
Formula: Total Square Feet (.25)/27 = Total Yards
Example: 100’x20’ = 2,000 Sq. Ft.(.5 or 6")/27 = 37 total yard
